The Team
The team has been put together to encompass many fields of engineering efficiently and competently. The range of skills and talent is formidable and there is very little that the team could not tackle.
Ken Brittain, principal
Ken Brittain is one of the UK’s most experienced automotive development engineers. Founder and director of two racing legends - Racing Services and Brodie Brittain Racing, Ken has been at the centre of Motorsport development for the past 35years. more >
Phil Selleck
Phil is an accomplished engineer and designer. After studying engineering design and computer-aided design at college, he started his working life in the luxury yacht industry and later moved on to one of the major Formula One Grand Prix Racing teams, Jordan Grand Prix. After a spell with F1 he was involved in a Le Mans, project, designing GT cars, before joining the consultancy.
Phil has immense experience in fabrication & machining techniques but one of his main strengths includes design & modelling in various 2D & 3D computer design systems and is highly competent in both Solid Works and Unigraphics. Examples of racing car upright design can be seen here.
Richard See
Richard has an MBA from London Business School, and an MA in Physics from Oxford University. He brings diverse skills to the team with strong analytical skills and lateral thinking.
Richard has several inventions of his own and the consultancy has been involved in helping to develop some of these – not least of which is a radical internal combustion engine with no reciprocating parts and utilising the Atkinson Miller Cycle.
Generally, Richard is excellent at analysis, regardless of the problem domain. One area of strength is his ability to develop software.
He has extensive experience in IT, which includes developing simulations of electrical equipment for a Sea Harrier simulation and project managing the multi-national development of a derivative trading system within the finance industry.
Norman Garrett III
Norman is our man across the pond. We have worked with Norman on a number of projects through the years. He was part of the team that designed the MX5 (or Miata) and RX-7 products for the Mazda Car Company and has been involved in major automotive development projects for most of his working life. He has also worked for Subaru and Volvo as a design and testing engineer. His strengths are in creating novel product designs, adapting new technologies into existing markets, and intellectual property strategies.
Norman, who has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, also has close links with some major engineering-biased universities in the United States and has experience in setting up test labs for private research, and the resulting lab-to-market commercialization process. Although working in his own company, Norman agreed to join our band of specialised consultants and we are currently involved in several joint projects – not the least of which is to save the 2-stroke engine from extinction. You can see a recent project of Norman’s here.
